Imoye Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other applicable laws.

Information you provide directly

  • Enrollment forms: full name, email address, phone number, current job role, years of experience, and your reason for joining the program.
  • Contact forms: name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
  • Newsletter sign-up: email address and, where provided, first name.
  • Corporate enquiries (CSA): company name, job title, team size, and training requirements.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, time on site, referring URLs, browser type, and device type , collected via analytics tools.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we use essential cookies to operate the site and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our content. See Section 8 for details.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Paystack (a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor). We do not store your card number, CVV, or banking credentials. We receive confirmation of payment status, transaction reference, and the last four digits of your card for record-keeping.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Program delivery: to enroll you in the correct cohort, send you access details, class schedules, and course materials.
  • Communication: to respond to enquiries, send confirmations, receipts, and important program updates.
  • Marketing (with consent): to send you content about upcoming cohorts, career insights, and Imoye Academy news. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Improvement: to understand which content and pages are most useful, and to improve our programs and website.
  • Legal compliance: to meet our obligations under Nigerian law, including record-keeping for financial transactions.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling in any way that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

3. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share limited data with:

  • Paystack: for payment processing. Their privacy policy is available at paystack.com.
  • Email service providers (e.g., Amazon SES): to deliver transactional and marketing emails on our behalf. These providers act as data processors under our instruction and may not use your data for their own purposes.
  • Analytics tools: anonymised or pseudonymised usage data is shared with analytics providers to help us understand site performance.
  • Law enforcement or regulatory bodies: where we are legally required to disclose information.

All third-party service providers we engage are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to deliver our services and meet our legal obligations:

  • Student records (enrollment details, payment records, course completion): 7 years from the date of your last enrollment, in line with Nigerian financial record-keeping requirements.
  • Contact form enquiries: 2 years from the date of enquiry.
  • Marketing subscribers: until you unsubscribe, or 3 years of inactivity, whichever comes first.

When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

5. Your Rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal retention obligations.
  • Objection: object to us processing your data for direct marketing.
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and regular security assessments.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take every reasonable step to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) as required by law.

7. International Transfers

Our website and services are hosted on infrastructure that may involve data being processed in countries outside Nigeria (including the United States via AWS). Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including contractual clauses that meet NDPA standards.

Imoye Academy programs are designed for working professionals aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify enrolled students by email. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
